Knitting

Both my daughters like me to knit dishcloths for them. They can also be used as face flannels. For the plain cloths in this pile I have used Sirdar Sinply Recycle yarn, this is made mostly from recycled cotton with some acrylic added and knits up really nicely.

This little baby hat was made in Debbie Bliss Eco baby fair trade organic cotton yarn again this also knits beautifully. For this hat as well as the baby jacket in my previous post, I used patterns from the book below. It contains some lovely baby patterns and I plan on making some more hats using the recycled yarn in the bottom photo. I also have a fair bit of quilting to get on with, but hand quilting in warm weather isn't great! So I think I will stick to knitting for now :)

Knitting for the grandchildren

I have been busy with making items of clothing for some of my grandchildren. I bought beautiful Debbie Bliss cashmerino Aran yarn and made the twins a cardigan each. One in jade and the other cowslip yellow. The yarn is lovely to knit with and the cardigans turned out really soft and snugly
For some reason the jade cardigan turned out bigger, it's not easy to make clothes with them being so far away that I can't check on the fit throughout.

I have been sewing for them too and I will post on that later.

knitted bear

A few weeks back I bought a great knitting book by Debbie Bliss called Simply Baby
I couldn't wait to make this sweet little bear. The pattern is just for the bear so I made up a pattern for her cardigan and skirt.

The bear is made from Debbie Bliss Cashmerino yarn, the cardigan from a different brand of machine washable merino with a little vintage button and the skirt from my stash of Liberty cotton lawn. She is 15" high and I plan on making a boy bear with trousers

baby hat & booties

I've been getting into a bit of knitting recently and bought a Debbie Bliss book of baby patterns while I was away and have just finished this hat and booties for a new born baby. The hat was supposed to have a ribbed rim to it but I decided to make a rolled rim. The booties are made in moss and garter stitch and made in one piece. The hat was made on four needles...first time I had tried that :)
The yarn is Debbie Bliss Babycashmerino which is a blend of 55% merino wool, 33% microfibre and 12% cashmere. Its beautiful and soft and lovely to knit with...just off to start a different hat now..
