baby hat & booties

I've been getting into a bit of knitting recently and bought a Debbie Bliss book of baby patterns while I was away and have just finished this hat and booties for a new born baby. The hat was supposed to have a ribbed rim to it but I decided to make a rolled rim. The booties are made in moss and garter stitch and made in one piece. The hat was made on four needles...first time I had tried that :)
The yarn is Debbie Bliss Babycashmerino which is a blend of 55% merino wool, 33% microfibre and 12% cashmere. Its beautiful and soft and lovely to knit with...just off to start a different hat now..

Please check out this blog post

We were away at the weekend and I will blog about that at a later date. In the mean time please visit my daughters blog and read this amazing story. I had a message from her on my blackberry when she was called from the shelter...she was speaking on the phone, giving instructions to the girls there and then letting me know what was happening. The final message...
Its a boy and he's screaming his head off...Praise the Lord!

We are home from Devon now, had a great and hectic time. Yogi Bear in 3D was a huge hit and we took trips to the Tidal Road, Farm shop and beach

Quilts for new Grandson

Some time back my daughter sent me the link to a quilt she wanted me to make for her new baby, it was made of natural coloured linen and quilted with embroidery silks, just making small crosses in different colours spead across the linen fabric. Its quite an old fashioned design and the photo's dont really capture it too well. I also wanted to make him a patchwork quilt which is picured after the linen quilt and I mentioned in my last post. I never really know how to bind quilts well so I went on you tube and found a good clip and I am pleased with the outcome
This is the link for the You Tube clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buCKs-Fgvb4

In the two following photo's he is wrapped in one of the quilts that I made for the twins

Baby Quilt

I have just taken a brief break from the Wedding Quilt to make this little Baby Quilt. A young couple from church are expecting their first baby and there is a baby shower planned next month. I really enjoy making quilts for babies, they are easy to handle and quick to finish. Now back to the Wedding Quilt!
