Our daughter has just arrived from South Africa. She has to renew her visa. She brought me this lovely bundle of fabric, some of which is made by Clarke & Clarke. Not sure what I will use the pieces for yet but they are lovely.
I have been making new curtains for our little caravan and have fabric to make cushions too. the curtains are in the striped fabric and the cushions will be spotty. These fabrics are also by Clarke & Clarke and really nice to work with.
I will be taking my daughter down Devon on Thursday for a few days and we have just spoken with the twins on the phone, they are very excited, telling us that Auntie Vashti will be sleeping in their room in the and Grandma will be in the playroom...think I know who got the short straw :)

Beach/Garden Mat
This blue beach mat belonged to my parents, together with an orange one. They were passed onto me and I gave one to my daughter. She then bought this great roll of vintage fabric in a charity shop and asked if I would make a mat each for the twins...who love to make beds out on their deck :) It looks like it should be simple and in a way it was but the foam kept sticking to the fabric as I tried to insert the pieces into the pockets that I made in the fabric and then to sew the side seam with the foam in place was also pretty fiddly. I only just had enough fabric to turn in the selvedge and then sew down the side. There was enough fabric for me to use two separate pieces and not to fold over and just have one side seam, but I am pretty tight and didn't want to use more than absolutely necessary :) I then used a press stud gadget so as not to have ties at the sides. This too proved to be a fiddle, not great gadgets :( However, all in all I think the twins will love them and I guess Mummy will have to buy some 'boy' fabric for me to make one for Gilby

Pacifier/Dummy Clip
I will be trying out lots of ideas over the coming weeks of products to consider selling in my Esty shop. Here is one my daughter suggested, a crochet dummy/pacifier clip. I have made this out of organic cotton yarn, adding a button for decoration.

Passion
Vashti with a child from the shelter
This is a bit of a cop out of writing a post I know, but please go and read my daughters post...not because of what she writes about her parents ;) but because I love her passion and how she writes about what God has called her to do
And if you would like to follow on face book
At the moment their life is tough...no hot water, no oven (and she loves to bake) no washing machine and no internet in their property....can you imagine? I know I couldn't live that life and I know that she would say that without God's grace she couldn't either. She will be home at the end of the month for a week and she bake to her hearts content, I cant wait :) Sadly without the rest of the family. But we are praying that they will all be here for Christmas

Next Step
For the past three years I have been working two jobs, administrator for the church and one to one support to a school boy. As the boy will be moving up a school in September that job will come to an end in July. My daughter has been telling me to set up an Esty shop and bought me the books below for my birthday, they are great, one all about setting up an Esty shop, one about how to take photo's on on line creations and the third is about how to sell crafts globally and on line. So watch this space, hopefully I will have an Etsy shop set up by September!
While returning from Petersham Nurseries near Richmond I stopped to visit this great patchwork shop, Tikki Patchwork and bought myself a lovely bundle of fat quarters.

Photo Shoot
I tried to get the girls to pose for photo's wearing their new skirts, not easy for them to keep still so all a bit blurred. Better result with the rainbow blankets, they were tired out and in fact Primrose had fallen asleep!

London Trip
Half Term has been busy with family visiting, a trip into London on Saturday to meet the boys (Alice was working). First was a visit to Violet at London Fields, for coffee and some yummy cakes. Then onto London Fields Park and down through the market checking out the vintage stalls. Loved the crochet blankets!

Rainbow Blankets
I have finished the rainbow blankets for the twins...just in time as they arrive tonight. The one with pink trim is for Primrose, the blue trim is for Maggie. All neatly folded on their bed ready. I am hoping that Gilby is still a little too young to notice that he doesn't have one.
