snowy walk

So here in the UK we have had lots of snow...maybe not as much as bloggers from Canada and the USA, but lots for us none the less.
Yesterday morning, after visiting the farm shop, hubby and I went for a stroll to the windmill. It was cold but beautiful. We stopped off at Ashridge for a hot chocolate and the cakes we had bought previously. We spotted some black deer on our drive home and couldn't get a photo so I took this one from the internet

A Few Snaps!

Life has been pretty hectic recently with family and house guests...the last of which left yesterday. Our eldest daughter flew back to South Africa and will arrive home in a couple of hours time. I am missing them all already. BUT...I have lots of sewing projects planned and so as I have a few days left of Half Term I will crack on in a minute.
Just thought I would post a few recent photo's before I begin.

Hope

This morning we had our church carol service and due to the snow we walked down to the town, it was a beautiful walk and a lovely way to begin the day. My husband spoke about the Hope we have in Christ.
"For everything that was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the scripture we might have hope." Romans 15:4

Snow

We have had a hard couple of days, you may remember my post about Preston
Well towards the end of last week he developed a bad leg, he was our sons dog and he told us that he had visited the vet previously with the same problem. Well he recovered a bit and then this week became quite poorly, he had two trips to the vet this week, some jabs and anti inflammatory drugs and then last night he took a turn for the worse and a fluid filled swelling appeared on the back of his head. The vet thinks he has a disc problem, we really thought he was going to die last night...however, a couple of tablets later and he was up and eating and trotting about. Today he is still a little under the weather but much better than last night. He is with us on route to his new owners who will have him move in with them in the new year. For now we have to keep him from doing too much...not easy for an 8 month old beagle pup in the snow!!

Looking Forward

Well, I have now had enough snow, its fun for a short while and then I am ready for the Spring. I came across these photo's from last year and then opened my Bible to add a scripture and low and behold this was the scripture I opened at! So yes there is a purpose for the snow.... to water the land and for God's Word to accomplish all that He intends it to.
That is my prayer for this coming year that we would see the Father's Word speak mightily into the lives of those across the nations
Isaiah 55: 9-13
9 “ For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.
10 “ For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there,
But water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower
And bread to the eater,
11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
12 “ For you shall go out with joy,
And be led out with peace;
The mountains and the hills
Shall break forth into singing before you,
And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress tree,
And instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree;
And it shall be to the LORD for a name,
For an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.”

Cushions & Snow

I thought I would post some more cushions that I made for Christmas now that Christmas is over and no one can take a sneeky peep of their gifts!

Just as the snow cleared here in the UK...it returned. When it came before Christmas I was ready for it to go, we had family visiting and lots of things to do and as we live on a hill getting the car out and back was quite tricky. However, now it has returned, schools are closed so I dont have to go into work, there is just the two of us in the house, we have plenty of food and its quite restful being snowed in. My daughter in South Africa is missing the snow and asked me to go into the garden, make a snow angel and get my husband to photograph it for her...the things we do for our children eh?

The angel could have been a bit clearer...but I wont be trying again!

Snow and Stuff

Life has been pretty hectic which is why I havent been around for a few weeks. Our eldest daughter and her family visited from South Africa, they have now returned and are preparing to spend Christmas over there. Things have calmed down a bit until next week when the rest of the family arrive for Christmas. I thought I would post some photo's I took while they were here and then a snowy one from this morning when we woke to 8" of snow. Snow is still a novelty for us as I lived in the South West of England since I was 16, we rarely had snow down there. Since moving here last year we have had two winters with plenty. There are also a couple of photo's of Christmas decorations in London. Liberty looks great, my eldest son has done some photo shoots for their catalogues. http://www.bentoms.co.uk/ The boys loved our walk in the woods and picking up our Chrismas tree, they have now got theirs up in SA and have put their decorations on that they bought whilst here.
