Girls skirts

While we were in Wales at the weekend I went to a great fabric show www.textileexpressfabrics.co.uk and bought this fabric amongst a few other items. Such a shame the shop isn't nearer....or maybe its just as well

Our daughter in law and I share the same birthday, my son was pretty pleased with the cake he made his lovely wife

We all met up in London's Brick Lane for bowling and lunch

Our youngest son gained the highest score ever at the bowling ally and had his name added to the board which he was happy about :)

This little chap and his family will be up to visit at the weekend when we will celebrate the Diamond Jubilee

Kindle

Yesterday was my birthday and my husband gave me a Kindle...I had wondered for a while if I wanted one, thinking that I love books so much could I really get along with a gadget instead. Well after giving our study a clear out and trying to find storage for all our many books which we couldn't keep on the shelves but also didn't want to part with, I thought a Kindle could be a good idea. We had friends visit and the wife had recently bought a Kindle and 'sang its praises'. I can store thousands of books on it, if I don't want them on the Kindle itself, Amazon always keeps them on my account, I can also share my books with others who have a Kindle and I can subscribe to newspapers etc too.I can go straight to Amazon, buy with one click and the book is there in 60 seconds...yes I know this does sound dangerous and I will have to be careful I don't get carried away :) The battery stays charged for weeks.  I have a neat little leather case and am just about to go and buy a clip on lamp so I can read after
'lights out'
Have I sold it to you yet?

Ercol Day bed

I just went through past posts to find this first photo...I then looked at the date April 2009 I couldn't believe it had been 3 years ago! When my husband came in I asked him how long he thought we had had this sofa, he replied 18 months so we had a good laugh when I explained that it had actually been double that time. Well we bought it as a project and it is the last photo below that keeps me focused that it may at some point be finished. Some time back we bought a blind for our cloakroom, it stood waiting for a few months and so I took to laying it across the toilet seat so in order to use the toilet the blind needed lifting off...that week the blind got fitted:) The problem is this sofa is too big to fit in our cloakroom but after a few prompts it is now ready to fit the webbing across the frame and then to search for the best deal in foam for the seating and back cushions for me to cover. Hopefully it wont take another 3 years.

Rape Fields

Today we went to the Living Crafts Event at Hatfield House http://www.livingcrafts.co.uk/
There was plenty to look at but only one quilting stall that I could find...shame as I was hoping for more and to be able to take some nice photo's but it wasn't to be so I just snapped the rape fields as we left the estate.

Knitted Baby Jackets

I was going through some old photo's and found this one of the twins at 2 weeks old. I made these jackets for them from a French pattern book that I had for my children. The jackets are supposed to be worn the other way around, buttoning up at the back but the twins liked them this way :) yes they were pretty chubby for twins..Maggie in the red hat was nearly 8lbs when born and Primrose was 7.8lbs. Shame the photo is blurred, I had to save it from a blog post and this is how it turned out.

Bluebells

Our Sunday afternoon walk. The bluebells aren't as good as last year, probably because of the rain...but still pretty.

Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain

When I was with my granddaughters last they saw me crocheting a blanket and asked if it was for them....I said no but I would make them one each if they would like. P asked for one with a pony on it with a rainbow tail! We managed a compromise....a rainbow coloured blanket each :)

Dishcloths

I have been knitting dishcloths instead of crocheting them, and adding a crochet border. The yarn is all 100% cotton and washes really well.
