Refiners Fire

'For He will be like a refiners fire....'
My husband spoke this morning from the book of Malachi, he spoke about God's refining fire.  It struck me that when gold ingots are being refined, they are heated by the fire and then at just the right moment are submerged into water. When God is refining us we need to allow Him to do so until he knows that the time is right for us to be submerged. Of course His refining of us continues throughout our life but there are times when God will work on specific issues in our lives. This may be a time of healing for past hurts and again we need to allow God to continue His refining until that time when He knows we are fully healed.

I think it was Job who said, "When he has tried me, I shall come forth as gold." Beautiful thought.

I so appreciate your thoughts from your husbands sermon. I like Dayle's reference to Job as well about coming forth as gold. Thanks for sharing!

What a vivid word picture ~ I will be thinking on these words today and trusting God as He continues to refine me to make me more like Him.

Having just burned my finger very painfully with my hot glue gun, this verse surely speaks to me - how often I have been through severely painful circumstances and screamed for relief ... but God knows when to give the relief, and of course we do learn so very much in those painful trials, we do come forth as different people actually. Thanks for sharing at Grateful Prayer. Hugs ~ Mary

The refining fires are done by a loving Heavenly Father, with our very best in His mind. We don't like it, but the gold that is created from the fire, is more valuable than we could imagine. I wish I could have heard your husband's sermon.
