Book Bag

I was 'chatting' with my daughter in SA on our Blackberries. She mentioned that her son needed a book bag before he could bring home a book from the school library. His classmates had theirs when they were in kindergarten but because Joe went to a different kindergarten he didn't have one and the lady who made them was no longer around. I asked dimensions etc and what colour he would like as I went through in my mind what heavy fabric I had already...I could only think of a piece of orange twill when the answer came back, "He would like orange please." PTL! I asked if he would like his name on and the answer was "Yes and a boat please" I love how God is interested in every little detail of our lives, even matching up what colour book bag we want with what colour fabric our Grandma has in her stash!
I made the bag double layered with a velcro strip across the opening. The last photo below is of Joe saying goodbye to his teacher as he leaves school one day. I would love to be a fly on the wall listening to what he is saying to her :)

Crochet Cushions

While I was ma
king these squares I changed my mind from asking a blanket to making two cushions. I looked on attic24 and came this tutorialhttp://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/crochet-wooly-jumper-cushion-.html

So now I have the squares and am looking for a jumper to use for the backs. I love to recycle clothing and fabrics when I can.

Finished

I finished the Amy Butler quilt last night and I am quite pleased with it. I just machine quilted straight line across the squares then added a plain binding.
Think I will start on the Liberty quilt next...that's for me!

Wedding Quilts

This is the wedding quilt I made for my son and daughter in law when they got married on 2008. Its not a great photo and I haven't done anything this big since. I think I posted it before but not this photo showing the whole quilt. I hand quilted it and I think I will stick to hand quilting on big projects in the future. Just going to do the hand sewing part of binding the Amy Butler quilt then it will be done :)

Remember the planters I made back in February....

Here they are in place, seeds planted but not yet growing
They also made good hiding places for the eggs on Easter Sunday

While Away

I managed to get myself a few little treats while away over Easter, this lovely Rowan milk cotton dk was reduced in price so I am making a blanket with it. The yarn contains milk protein which makes it lovely and soft although it sounds a little weird!

I also went into a Cath Kidston shop in Marlborough on route to Devon and bought this fat quarter bundle which I will use to make a CK quilt at some point.

We had a lovely day out at the Miniature Pony Centre, the children loved the ponies and Gilby showed no fear!

Gilby getting the Hang of the Easter Egg Hunt

The big sisters led the way, showing him how its done

It didn't take long for him to get the idea

Pretty chuffed with himself...a good result!

Baby Girl Blanket

Just a little sneaky post from Devon...whilst watching three small children while everyone else is still in bed!
This is the baby blanket I have made for a baby girl due in the summer...just like the blanket I made with a blue trim for a baby boy. I have bought myself a couple of holiday treats which I will post next time. I hope you all had an enjoyable Easter time.

Amy Butler Wedding Quilt

I have joined my Amy Butler 10" Love squares. Now need to get the backing fabric which will probably be white and something for the binding.
