Cushions

I've been getting on with some sewing the last couple of weeks. We had taken the cushions from our Ercol sofa, over to our cottage as they are made from vintage woollen blankets and I though they were more suited to a cottage. I bought some lovely big cushion Inners and looked through my fabric stash to see what I had that would suit our ercol furniture. The fabric I chose was  a curtain sample made of green Sanderson fabric. This was already made up into a rectangular, lined curtain just the right size to fold over and make a simple cover with no fastening just an envelope style fold over at the back.

                                     

For the second cushion I used a couple of pieces of Daisy Chain by Jonelle Duracolour which I made into the same style cover as the other. The quality of both these fabrics is lovely and great to sew with and all the better as I had picked up both pieces in charity shops :)

                                     

                            

old woollen blanket recreated

I have had this lovely woollen blanket for some time, having picked it up in a second hand shop. I have lots of blankets and didnt really need another but knew I would find something to use it for. I bought a couple of cushion inners and made a cover for each of them. I still have some of the blanket left and I am sure I will find something to make from it.

I love the colours, especially for this time of the year as the leaves are turning colour ready for the Autumn.  

Caravan Cushions

Next Saturday 21st, we will be taking our little caravan off to a Bible Camp with some others from church. I am really hoping the weather improves. We do have an awning that doubles its size but having a little caravan does have its benefits :)

It is old and I have just made new curtains and cushions to brighten it up a bit. One couple have an amazing new camper van...my husband calls it a pamper van...so we wont be parking next to them!

Crochet Cushions

So now I have the squares and am looking for a jumper to use for the backs. I love to recycle clothing and fabrics when I can.

Patchwork Cushion

Back in the summer I posted this http://finelinenandpurple.blogspot.com/2011/08/what-treat.html about my friend who had given me a bag of 'bits' that had belongs to her late mother. I have used some of these to make a couple of gifts and now that my friend is about to move house to a cottage in Cornwall I have made a cushion from her mothers patches, for her new bedroom. I have enjoyed using these lovely old fabrics, I think they are probably from the 60's and 70's, and still have plenty left for future projects....might make myself something :)

Patchwork Cushion

Back in the Summer I posted this http://finelinenandpurple.blogspot.com/2011/08/what-treat.html about the bags of sewing bits that were passed onto me by a friend. The bits included some pieces of  unfinished patchwork that had been started by my friends mother Mary who died a few years back when she was in her 90's. Well yesterday was Mary's Great Granddaughters 4th birthday so I completed some of the patchwork and made it into a cushion for her birthday.

I had a little break

Well, I have just had a little break from blogging....posting not reading...and below are the reasons why! My Mum came to stay for two weeks and has just gone home and Preston arrived for long term foster care! He belongs to our son and daughter inlaw but they decided that they had bitten off more than they could chew and so he has come to stay with us, infact he probably wont go back to them as their home and work hours just dont suit a lively puppy. The dogs that we had in the past have been small and not very lively, very easy to care for and not needing lots of walks and attention. Preston is different. But as we are not out of the house for long stretches of time, have a garden and lots of nice places to walk nearby, we agreed to have him for at least time for him to settle down. We will see how it goes...he is very sweet!

Twins Third Birthday

We have just returned from the twins 3rd birthday celebrations in Devon. The day before we went to the pottery cafe where the girls got to paint a mickey Mouse each and a plate for Great Grandma for Christmas....this was a big hit and they got to go an pick up their 'cooked Mickeys the next day when the glaze was all bright and shiny.

The girls are really into the Getalong Gang (for those who dont know, this was a cartoon around in the 80's. They asked for a Getalong Gang party so Mummy managed to get characters and party stuff from ebay.She also made the girls Montgomery Moose outfits

This little tongue couldnt resist  a quick lick!

They couldnt decide whether to  wear Moose outfits, Mickey swimming costumes or Zipper Cats headband...so they wore them all while having some 'after party' chill time

'To Do' List

I am gradually able to cross items off my 'to do' list. My daughters friend had a baby boy and I made this pram blanket. Its made from a deep plum coloured wool with a grey edge. I then made the little jackets for the twins. We are travelling to Devon on Thursday to celebrate their 3rd birthday on Saturday. I need to make them a skirt each before then, out of old clothes that my daughter gave me to use..we like to recycle fabric!

Internation Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church

Today is the Internation Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church.There are many countries in the world today where Christians are martyred for their faith. We in the West are blessed that we are able to worship and fellowship with other Christians as and when we want to. I am thankful to  organisations such as Release International, Open Doors and Barnabus Fund for bringing news of what they do to help Christians who are persecuted for their faith.

Dartmouth

While we were down in Devon this past week we visited Dartmouth which is just a few miles from our daughters home. We walked around this lovely old port with our daughter and her twins, stopping in a creperie for a little snack!

Will I Ever Finish It?

I started thisquilt about 4 years ago..it is for me. I wonder if I will ever finish it because I keep having to stop and make other things. Not that I haven't enjoyed the other projects but I would like to see this one finished. 

Trip to Devon

We have just had a few days holiday down in Devon, its been really nice to be away from the phone and the internet and to spend time with the family.  The twins are wearing the hats I just made them and also the coats and scarves I made last winter, Maggie on the left and Primrose on the right...thats them posing for the photo!

A Country Walk & Some Wooly Hats

I have been been busy making wooly hats for Christmas gifts for my great nieces and nephews, its a simple garter stitch pattern and I added crocheted flowers for the girls and a pompom for the boys. I am now making one each for my twin grandaughters with ear flaps on. Although Autumn is here in the UK we have had some lovely sunny days...great for a walk at Ashridge Park.
