Projects on the Go

I have a number of projects on the go at the moment. Some crochet baby blankets and this quilt which has been ongoing for a few years...something else always gets in the way, but I ma now hand quilting it and then it will just need the binding attached...this quilt is for me:)

The fabric arrived from www.cottonpatch.net for my friends wedding quilt...I am really pleased with it and also my printed labels to sew on finished projects. Cant wait to get started on the quilt!

Italy

I haven't finished anything recently so thought I would post some photo's of a trip to Italy some years back. I love Italy and we had an amazing trip visiting some main cities and areas. We enjoy the architecture as well as the scenery. I would like you also to be praying for my daughter and her family in South Africa. The farm on which they have a cottage was broken into last night, their neighbour held at gun point while his property and our SIL's office robbed. Praise God that no one was hurt. 

Wedding Quilt

My old school friend (we have known each other for over 40 years)is getting married in July so I have been mulling over in my mind what style quilt I should make for her. I kept thinking I would like to use just basic squares, knowing this would be quite simple and therefore quick to make but was wondering is this really just a bit boring? However, I just kept coming back to the thought that actually I really like basic squared quilts. I have a lot of Liberty squares that I am going to make into a quilt for myself...who knows when?

So I searched Amy Butler squared fabric and came across this beautiful quilt on http://www.redpepperquilts.com/2009/11/amy-butler-love.html

So now I know what I am going to make for my friend, I am going to buy ready cut Amy Butler squares from her 'Love' range...perfect!

Beach Robe

I expect many of you have seen one of these. I had one very similar colours to this when I was a child. I bought this robe some years ago in a charity shop. My daughter asked me if I would make her one with arm holes for when she takes her four year old twins and todder swimming. She can put it over her costume to keep warm and also have hands free to dry and dress the children. 

I couldn't find any exciting towelling at a reasonable price and so went for plain blue...Maggie will be pleased but Primrose will have wanted it pink :)

I went for a French seam as towelling frays so much.

I used some Liberty print bias binding to bind the arm holes

Baby Blue

I have finished the Blue Baby Blanket. I love the colours and used a shell stitch around the edge. The yarn is 100% acrylic and so very soft, machine washable and tumble dry.

I reckon I can get three blankets from the yarn I bought costing £13 in total....bargain!
