Happy Valentines Day!

Primrose is clearly up for it, Maggie is her mothers daughter and looks like she would rather still be in bed and Gilby looks a little bemused by it all!

I miss these little guys so much, haven't seen them for 20 months. So when I received these photo's today I thought I would share them. They found this 'pet' in the garden as they were out playing in the sunshine...which we don't have here in the UK at the moment. 

Joe wasn't quite as brave as his younger brother Jesse, as the chameleon was hissing:)They watched him turn brown as he was on the branch and then turn back to green when they placed him back on the leaves. I always say you can teach the whole curriculum out doors!

Our anniversary trip into London was lovely. We walked from Euston down to the British Museum, popping into the Contemporary Ceramics centre first. We then walked down to Covent garden, just strolling around the streets. I am always in awe of the architecture in the city, it amazes me that so many years ago they could design and build so amazingly even without the technology of today.

As China Town looked so inviting with the lanterns up for Chinese New Year, we decided to eat there and we weren't disappointed. 

After more strolling around and a cup of tea the rain began so we sat on a bench under a canopy outside a cafe, until it was time to make our way to St Martin's Theatre to see Mousetrap. We loved the play and the theatre.We then grabbed a cab back to Euston for the train home

So today we celebrate 37 years of marriage...we have had ups and downs but thank God its been mainly ups. Dont laugh at the photo...Oh OK if you must. Yes we were young. We were married at St Mewan Church in Cornwall, a really pretty little church where our girls were Christened and my father and grandmother are buried.

Today we are going into London for a day of celebration and I will post about it tomorrow.

I thank God for my husband and all that he is to me.

I'm honoured

I awoke this morning to a message from Ann over at http://annabelleserendipity.blogspot.co.uk saying that she has nominated me for a Liebster Award...so exciting! I love Ann's blog and visit it daily. She posts about her life, her visits to lovely places and her wonderful creations...all the things I enjoy reading about people.

But I have to answer the following questions and I'm really not very good at this. I am glad she didn't ask my favourite film because I can never remember film titles much to my children's dismay. 

So.....

1. What am I most proud of?

This is an easy answer, I am most proud of my husband, children and grandchildren. My husband gave up his plumbing and heating career in 2001 and went to Bible College. He had suffered an accident prior to this and I asked him the question 'What would you do if you could do anything?' and the answer was Bible college.Financially we had nothing and this was a huge step.I am thankful that he had the faith to do this as it was the best move we ever made. My Kids...well they are all awesome and I don't have time here to explain why and how, they just are!

2. What am I least proud of?

All the times that I have messed up as a wife and mother. But I know God has the grace for me in all my mistakes.

3. My favourite topic of conversation?

I love to talk about my Lord and Saviour...but I know that can be a bore to some :) so when I am with people I like to find out as much about them as possible (without being too intrusive) I am interested in people, and so it all depends on who I am conversing with. And if I can sneak a bit of Jesus in there somewhere I always will.

4. Who would I most like to spend a day with.

I love to read about people who have given their lives to serving  the destitute. At this moment in time I would like to spend a day with Matthew Barnett, founder of The Dream centre in Los Angeles.

5. Who would I run a mile from?

Anyone trying to sell me something that I don't want...I hate hard selling! If I wasn't something I will choose to but it without anyone calling me or imposing themselves on me in the street!

 This week of February is a busy one, Monday was Gilby's 2nd birthday, today is his mummy's 34th birthday and Thursday is our 37th wedding anniversary!

Below are some photos of Gilby's party...if you usually read my blog you will know that my daughter loves doing birthday parties for her family.

His party was based on his favourite book, Dancing at Grandpa's by Laura Ingalls Wilder. My daughter grew up reading Little House on the Prairie books.

my daughter made each child a cross stitch with their initial...this is her first attempt at cross stitch after just one lesson from me on my last visit....she did a great job

she made little take home gifts from the cardboard cartons that come with her weekly veggi box delivery. These are to resemble picnic hampers....we would have loved to have been there...hopefully next year

ohio star quilt continued

I have nearly finished the blocks for my Ohio Star quilt. But I have run out of fabric and need only about half a meter in total to complete it:( 

I bought the fabric in a bundle of fat quarters back last year from www.tikkilondon.com. I came across this lovely shop in Kew when driving somewhere else. So now I will need to order more fabric on line. I am pleased with how fast I have been able to put these blocks together especially as all but two have been pieced by hand. I have an old cotton bed sheet for the sashing and a lovely vintage sheet to back it. I will buy cotton wadding for the middle layer...cant wait to get quilting. I will also do that by hand and really enjoy the relaxation of doing this.
