Capris Pants

My daughter sent me some fabric that she had bought in a charity shop and using a pattern from this book I made the twins a pair of capris pants each. My camara has broken and so I am back to using my old one which never seems to focus properly, the photo's are a little blurred.

Baby Quilts

I decided to get on with the baby quilts that I am making for a couple in our church who are expecting twins any day. They dont know the sex of the babies and so I am planning on using a stencil to put hearts around the cream border and quilt them in either pink or blue after they are born. We started the day with a walk in te country followed by coffee and cake, with friends.

I had already cut out the squares so I began with jointing these up. I have a number of baby quilts to get done and so cose a simple pattern of 5x5 6" squares

I then added the cream border and mitred the corners by drawing a 45 degree line from the corner on one side of the border then on the other side

I then pinned the layers

stitched them together along the line and trimmed the fabric

The quilt tops are now ready to put together with wadding and backing and then quilted

Friends

Today I met up with a friend who I hadn't seen or spoken to (apart from email) for 37 years!!! When we were children she went to boarding school here in the UK while her parents worked abroad. During the shorter school holidays she would stay with mutual family friends of ours and we would spend lots of happy times together. When I was 16 my family moved to Cornwall (about 5 hours drive away) and later she moved to Canada and we didnt see each other again, losing contact soon after. We have now moved back up to near where I grew up and closer to those mutual friends. She has come for a visit to the UK and today we all got together. We spent the afternoon talking and laughing and taking photos. Since we lost contact we have both become Christians and it has been so amazing that God has brought us back together again.

Wales

We have just returned from a lovely weekend staying with my sister and her husband in Wales. On Friday we went hill walking in Snowdonia and did the Precipice Walk, the weather was beautiful and the views amazing. We watched a buzzard flying below us, I was so in awe of God's awesome creation.

Birthday, Borough & Bluebells

My birthday began with a trip to Borough Market at London Bridge to meet up with our youngest son and DIL for coffee and a Danish pastry. Borough is a facinating place, selling lots of interesting produce. Check out the website http://www.boroughmarket.org.uk/ This was followed by a wander around Oxford Street then home for fish & chips! I had had a lovely birthday supper at the home of friends from church on Friday evening. After church today we went to see the bluebells at Ashridge, shame it was raining but I managed a few photo's. Below are the lovely flowers that my daughter sent me.Next week we are going to Ales to visit my sister and her husband and then thats it done for another year!

Day Out

Tomorrow is my birthday and since my 50th birthday I have tried to extend the celebrations a little longer than the usual day...... so today we went out to Clivedon, a National Trust property in Buckinghamshire. The weather was a little dull and so the photo's dont do it justice, but we had a great time. The view from the house across the Thames and surrounding countryside was amazing. We took a picnic and enjoyed a long walk through the beautiful gardens. The first two photo's are for my grandaughters...Primrose and Magnolia (Maggie).

Eriba Eribelle

We have just bought ourselves a little treat! Its called an Eriba Eribelle and is a small 2 birth French caravan. We wanted something small for towing and storing. It has an awning to add to the side. This photo was taken by the seller, it is over 20 years old and my husband is doing a little tidying up on the paintwork and I am making new curtains. The upholstery and furnishing is all very good condition. We are very excited about our first trip which is booked for the beginning of June!
